Bird Fuels (“Bird Fuels,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides fuel delivery, heating, cooling, and home comfort services to residential and commercial customers across Grey, Bruce, Dufferin, and Simcoe Counties, Ontario. We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of the personal information you share with us.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights available to you. It applies to information collected through birdfuels.ca (the “Site”), our customer service channels, delivery and service operations, and our marketing communications.

  • Billing and payment details, including budget/equal payment plan enrolment, balances, and payment history
  • Delivery history, service and maintenance records, and related account notes

c) Website and Technical Information

  • Information collected automatically through our Site, which is hosted on Shopify, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and referring URLs
  • Information collected through cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 4)

d) Marketing and Communication Information

  • Email address and communication preferences when you subscribe to newsletters or promotional emails
  • Your interactions with our emails and social media channels (e.g., opens, clicks, messages)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

  • Establish and manage your customer account, including budget/equal payment plans
  • Schedule, dispatch, and complete fuel deliveries and heating/cooling service calls
  • Process payments and manage billing
  • Respond to inquiries and provide customer support
  • Send service notifications, delivery updates, and account communications
  • Send marketing communications, where you have consented, in accordance with CASL
  • Operate, maintain, and improve our Site and services
  • Meet legal, regulatory, safety, and contractual obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share personal information only as follows:

  • Service providers who support our operations, such as our e-commerce platform (Shopify), payment processors, email marketing platform (Mailchimp), and social media management tools — each is authorized to use your information only as needed to provide services to us
  • Delivery drivers and service technicians, to the extent necessary to fulfill your order or service request
  • Professional advisors (e.g., legal, accounting) where necessary
  • Government or regulatory authorities, where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Bird Fuels, our customers, or others
  • In connection with a business transaction (e.g., merger, acquisition, or sale of assets), subject to confidentiality protections

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate core functionality, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use the Site. This may include analytics tools that help us evaluate Site performance and marketing effectiveness.

We only send marketing emails or text messages to individuals who have provided consent, in accordance with CASL. Opting out of marketing communications does not affect service-related or transactional communications (e.g., delivery confirmations, billing notices).

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including to maintain your customer account, meet legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

7. How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Payment processing is handled through PCI-compliant third-party providers; we do not store full payment card numbers on our own systems.

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications or certain uses of your information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions
